They're what happens when you ask a brain wired to spot threats and read people (not to hold two years of research notes) to serve as your long-term archive, your pattern-recognition engine, and your primary creative workspace, all at once, indefinitely. It was never built for that. Then, starting with the fourth drawing, he began to remove. Sharp white lines traced the main muscles. Curves went angular. The head simplified. The legs became single strokes. By the final lithograph, the bull had collapsed into one continuous, unbroken line — and somehow, it was still unmistakably a bull.
